See? THIS is why you do not tattoo anything on your body that you personally cannot read or understand.

(Her tattoo seems to read teneo vestri vox.)

Is that supposed to be 'I hold your voice?'

Although I can't say anything - my Latin tat is NOT in proper grammar. There is a reason, and poetry can say anything you fucking want, but people still think I made a 'mistake.'

There is being slightly grammatically incorrect (and really, yours isn't), and then there is just putting the dictionary forms in English word order to "create" a sentence.

I LOLed, seriously. I don't know if it is one of her real tats or one added for the movie. I hope it is permanent so I can LAFF at her.

Since I don't know Latin, my curiosity got to me.

Can I find an automatic Latin to English translator? ... a sentence in English is "Know your rights" that in correct Latin is "Nosce iura tua". From English to Latin the resulting on line translation is " Teneo vestri vox" that translated again into English becomes " To occupy your cry"....!!

A quick search for her tattoos shows that she has one on her back saying "Know your rights". I decided not search any further, lol.

Automatic translators don't work for Latin because the language has inflected endings that change depending on what the word is doing in the sentence (taken from the dictionary itself one would create 'teneo vestr vox' for 'hold your voice' when in actuallity it would be 'tene tuam vocem' (singular) or 'tene vestras voces' (plural).

That said, very few people will notice and/or care that she has incorrect Latin on her arm. She has one on her stomach that says "quod me nutruit me destruit" (what nourishes me destroys me) which is correct Latin, but it is also a quote originally from Latin and thus hard to get wrong.

Late response and all, but I just thought I'd point out that she didn't actually get that one tattooed, it's just for the movie. :)
